Whatcom Waterway EJA Survey
Your Voice Matters! Take our 5-minute survey.
Información en español abajo
Whatcom Waterway is one of 12 contaminated cleanup sites along the Bellingham Bay waterfront. This 700+ acre site includes in-water sediments contaminated by past industrial waterfront activities. The cleanup work began in 2001 and will continue for several more years.
The WA State legislature awarded a grant of $37 million to the Port of Bellingham to advance this cleanup. Because of this significant action we are conducting an Environmental Justice Assessment to identify how this cleanup might affect the community. This will help us make decisions that reduce environmental harm and address health and environmental inequities in your community.
We want to hear from you. How could this cleanup benefit or harm your community? Do you have concerns we can address?
We offer translation and interpretation services at no cost. To request them, email Kristen.Forkeutis@ecy.wa.gov or call 425-240-4353. If you call, ask for an interpreter to be connected with one.
